Estate Planning

What is Estate Planning?

Estate planning is the process of deciding, in advance, how your assets, finances, and personal care will be handled — both during your lifetime if you become unable to manage things yourself, and after you pass away. A typical estate plan may include:

  • A will — directs how your property is distributed and can name a guardian for minor children.
  • A living trust — holds assets during your lifetime and can help your loved ones avoid the probate court process after you pass away.
  • A power of attorney — lets someone you choose manage your financial affairs if you're unable to.
  • An advance health care directive — lets you state your health care wishes and name someone to make medical decisions if you can't.

Types of Estate Planning

SD Thrive Solutions prepares the following estate planning documents based on your direction:

  • Wills
  • Living trusts
  • Powers of attorney
  • Advance health care directives
  • Related transfer documents, such as deeds to fund a trust

How We Can Help

How it works: You tell us what you've decided, and we type and prepare your documents accurately and professionally. We can also assist with:

  • Organizing your documents into a complete, ready-to-sign package
  • Preparing supplemental forms and amendments
  • Making copies for your records
  • Notary referral information (if needed for signing)

What We Don't Do

As a registered California Legal Document Assistant, we don't recommend which documents you need, advise you on tax or asset-protection strategy, or interpret how the law applies to your situation. If you need that kind of guidance, we can point you toward a licensed attorney or a State Bar-certified Lawyer Referral Service.

Pricing is quoted per document or as part of a complete estate plan package — contact us for a quote based on what you're looking to prepare.
